Ziegfeld Follies Broadway
Did Bob Hope ever record “I Can’t Get Started”? I am trying to find a recording of him singing the song?

I know Bob Hope introduced the song on Broadway in the Ziegfeld Follies of 1936 with Eve Arden. I remember watching a TV special in the late 70s or early 80s in which he sang the song with Shirley Jones and talked about the original Broadway show. I think the special may have starred Ethel Merman as well. For a long time now I have been trying to find either a clip of Hope and Jones from the special or a recording of Hope singing “I Can’t Get Started”. Does anyone know if he ever recorded it on a record or during a radio or TV show? Thanks!

I don’t think Bob Hope ever sang songs, but if he did, when you find it, Please share it with us!

THANKS!

The folks who run the Encores! series in New York have added a revue to their ever-growing list of restored shows. Ziegfeld Follies of 1936 actually works a lot better on record than it did on stage–let’s face it, a lot of the skits haven’t aged very well and we’re better off focusing on the songs. And the songs certainly warrant rediscovery. Written by lyricist Ira Gershwin and composer Vernon D…

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Our Gang Follies of 1938 (later reissued as simply Follies of 1938) is a 1937 American musical short subject, the 161st short subject entry in Hal Roachs Our Gang (Little Rascals) series.
