Shrek marks the first project of its kind of DreamWorks, but the cast of Broadway veterans should help bring in the needed experience. Shrek will be played by Tony-nominated Brian d’Arcy James. Sutton Foster plays Princess Fiona and is another Tony nominated star with roles in Les Miserables, Annie , and Little Women to name a few. Chester Gregory II plays the ever-babbling Donkey and has been in the hit film and play Hairspray. Christopher Sieber plays Lord Farquaad and is both a veteran of stage and TV with appearances on stage in Chicago, Beauty & The Beast and more. John Tartaglia plays Pinocchio, and Kecia Lewis-Evans is The Dragon.
As a movie, Shrek won an Oscar as the Best Animated Feature and looks towards the stage for more praise.
