Ralph Watling was a male badminton player from England. Watling won the All England Open Badminton Championships in mens singles in 1902 and 1903. The All England Open Badminton Championships, or simply All England, is one of the worlds oldest and most prestigious badminton tournaments. Played annually, it developed after the success of worlds first badminton tournament held in Guildford in 1898. The tournament was successfully organised in April 4, 1899, however only three categories (Mens Doubles, Womens Doubles and Mixed Doubles) were originally staged. Both Mens and Womens Singles were added the following year. The first three tournaments were named The Open English Championships. It was eventually considered (especially after the first Thomas Cup series in 1949) the unofficial World Badminton Championships until 1977 when the International Badminton Federation launched its official championships. Battle of Watling Street $78.07 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Battle of Watling Street took place in Romanoccupied Britain in AD 60 or 61 between an alliance of indigenous British peoples led by Boudica and a Roman army led by Gaius Suetonius Paulinus. Although purportedly outnumbered, the Romans decisively defeated the allied tribes, inflicting heavy losses on them. The battle marked the end of resistance to Roman rule in Britain in the southern half of the island, a period that lasted until 410 AD. Historians are dependent on Roman sources for accounts of the battle. The precise location is not known, but most historians place it between Londinium and Viroconium (Wroxeter in Shropshire), on the Roman Road now known as Watling Street. This name for the road originated in AngloSaxon times, thus the modern name of the battle is anachronistic as well as being somewhat speculative.
