Llandudno is a seaside resort and town in Conwy County Borough, Wales. In the 2001 UK census it had a population of 20,090 including that of Penrhyn Bay and Penrhynside, which are within the Llandudno Community. The town is just off the North Wales Coast railway line which was opened as the Chester and Holyhead Railway in 1848, became part of the London and North Western Railway in 1859, and part of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway in 1923. Llandudno was specifically built as a midVictorian era holiday destination and is served by a branch railway line opened in 1858 from Llandudno Junction with stations at Deganwy and Llandudno. Llandudno, Queen of the Welsh Resorts, a title first implied as early as 1864 is now the largest seaside resort in Wales, and lies on a flat land between the Welsh mainland and the Great Orme peninsula. Llandudno, which lies in Conwy County Borough, was formerly in the district of Aberconwy within Gwynedd, and prior to 1974 was in Caernarfonshire. Cavanagh Jr. (born April 13, 1948) is an attorney and retired ice hockey player. Cavanagh was a threetime allstate selection as a high schooler in Rhode Island. He whet on to play hockey at Harvard University where he earned multiple awards including being named an AllAmerican for three straight years. He left Harvard as the schools all time assist leader which has since been passed. However, he remains the Beanpots alltime leading scorer. An injury lead him to stop pursuing a career in hockey. He was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1994 and named one of the top 50 players in ECAC history in 2010. Following his hockey career Cavanagh began practicing law becoming a successful attorney. He is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association and the Board of Bar Examiners. He was born in Caversham, Dunedin. He was the son of Old Vic Cavanagh. Between them, they greatly affected the development of the sport of rugby within New Zealand. Young Vics playing career saw him play as hooker for the Southern club in Dunedin, and also a cricketer for Otago Boys High School. Beyond the sports field he was a prominent newspaperman, having started as a compositor for the Otago Daily Times and risen to be General Manager of its major rival, the Evening Star from 1950. He oversaw the merger of the two papers and the formation of the new Allied Press company in 1974, becoming the first head of the new company until his retirement in 1976.
