Can anyone name the two paintings in the Rat Pack Playing Pool poster?
That photograph you are talking about is actually a famous film ‘still’ from the movie “Oceans 11″ they made in 1960.
Other people have wondered the same thing about these two paintings and no one has been able to figure it out so far.
The reason why the paintings aren’t recognizable is because they were done by amateurs. They are set props, most likely either quickly slapped together by someone in the set department or they were found by the set decorator and used for this scene. Set decorators find art props everywhere, from thrift shops or yard sales to using art from their own private collection.
The only people who would recognize these two paintings (a Picasso knockoff and an Abstract Expressionism set whip out) would be the artist who painted them, the set decorator who bought them or the person who ended up with them after the set was torn down.
