How to burn a video file that is larger than the dvd size using Burn for mac?

I have a lot of recorded video that i am trying to burn onto a dvd. however, the dvd capacity is 4.7 gb and the video file is larger than that. when i use the burn software it ejects the dvd and gives me some message saying it cant be burned or something like that. i am rather new to mac and burn as well. how do i burn my video footage onto multiple disks but keep it as one continuos length of footage?
